Forward Spam and save a Family that met an Accident

Filed under: Awareness — Dinesh Gajbhiye @ 1:25 pm

A poor mail to get our attention, nothing from it is TRUE but someone there, really sick, wants to play with our emotions and must be happy to see it still making rounds, check the email details below (an image  of a guy is attached with the mail, Gemini.jpg).

Let’s break it and use the delete functionality next time you see this mail in your inbox and not forward to others, it’s nothing but a SPAM and help the poor guy whose photograph is being misused.

Dear Reader,

I am writing this on behalf of my loving husband.
Everything was fine, me, my husband and our two children. We had a happy family. My husband was an Engineer in a big company. He comes home early and helps me with the house chores and plays with the children.
Our dreams was shattered in front of our eyes last week. It was a drunk lorry driver, who came on the wrong side and hit us and went.
It killed my little baby girl and left my husband paralyed. My husband is still in the hospital. His brain is damaged and he needs a operation. I need 5 lahks to save his life. I collected about 3 lahks from my friends and family. I need another 2 lahks.
I don’t want to lose him. He was such a wonderful husband & father. He still doesn’t know we lost our little girl. I am looking after my son now. Without my husband I won’t be able to takecare of him.
Please help me save my husband the one person I dearly love. I already lost my daughter and I don’t want to lose my husband as well. Please help us.
Thank you very much for your love & support. May God bless you.
Yours Truly,
Nirosha Silva
(I know you don’t like to forward mails. I am really sorry to bother you. If you have a heart and like to help a family, please forward this mail. Every mail you forward will add 5cents to AOL and they will deposit it to my bank account. Which will help me save my husband.)
Poor Guy

  1. hee heee heee… i got this mail today, ran a search n stumbled on ur site!!! good lord!! u saved me.
But most of the people fall prey to this emotional outburst often in an attempt to use the ‘forward’ feature to stay top of mind of thier long distance friends.

  7. Hey… thanks for the update. I got this email from my aunt today and searching on the name got this link. It’s sad that people can use tragedy like this to get their spamming kicks.

  8. This was just a sample… I want more info.
    1. Why someone deliberately send such a spam mail? Who is benefetted?
    2. Is there any marketing/promotional strategy behind such spams? I heard AOL wants to do a better EMAIL business in India. At present, it seems to have less users.
    3. Does any mail service provider pays money for sending spams? If yes, how can we prosecute them? What could be a legal remedy?

  9. Whenever the mail saying if you forward you will get money…………
    or
AOL or Microsoft pay 5 or 10 cent for each forwarded mails……….. then this should be spam mails…….. so please search in google or other search engine before you do a forward before wasting others time and affecting their emotions……..

  10. Hi Dinesh,

Thanks Dinesh..you are doing a great service to us all by clarifying this hoax.
I also got this email today, but can recall seeing it last year too. How do you know it is a SPAM email? Can you answer this question- “Do AOL really pay people money for such things as a a family tragedy?”???

I also got a picture with a woman and her three children seated. It definitely doesnt look like her house is in Sri Lanka…it looks like somewhere abroad, like New Zealand, UK, etc…look at the door locks..

It would be greatly appreciated if you could answer these questions.

  18. Hello everyone,

I received this email today and the first thing I normally do is check things up on the internet! I came across this site and would like to add a few lines on this case. I would like to highlight that a person who is paralysed rarely requires brain surgery. Someone who does suffer from brain damage normally requires immediate surgery. The medical condition described in that email didn’t seem to make any sense!

Its sad how people could come up with something like this…

  20. Best Sri Lankan hoax i’ve ever seen ……..

I would like to rename the subject of this mail as “Poor engineer from a big company begging for 2 laks ”

Why the engineer is not getting paid from his big company. The company would have paid the full amount of 5 laks for this poor engineer.

GUYS BE AWARE OF SPAMMERS, THEY ARE EVERY WARE. SPAMMING IS A HUGE BUSINESS; IF YOU CAN COLLECT 1 MILLION EMAIL ADDRESSES YOU CAN MAKE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WITHIN SECONDS.
